Sample Mounting

The PhotoSpinner Cylinder Sample Holder System

In PhotoSpinner, samples are mounted in a sample holder analogous to the cylinder of a revolver: a cylindrical, rotating component with multiple individual chambers. Each sample is secured by small adapters that ensure stable positioning during operation. Both the cylinder and the adapters are designed to accommodate vials and bottles of different shapes and sizes.
The PhotoSpinner cylinder can be assembled, for Instance, with up to ten 5 mL vials (A), 12 mL vials (B) or quartz UV-Vis cuvettes.
Unlike the cylinder of a revolver, the PhotoSpinner cylinder is specifically engineered to be fully detached from its axis. This is a key aspect of the instrument’s modular design philosophy. Using a precise yet user-friendly threaded system, the cylinder can be removed and reattached in just a few seconds—without tools and without compromising alignment or mechanical stability.
This detachable architecture allows researchers to switch between samples, vial formats, or entire experimental sets with remarkable ease. Whether moving from 5 mL vials to 10 mL bottles or preparing a new batch of samples, the process remains straightforward, fast, and highly intuitive.
